Wilhelm Tietke, M.D.
Dr. Tietke was born in Niengraben, Germany. He is a graduate of the University of Tübingen, West Germany, where he received his degree in medicine. He did his internship at Edward W. Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, Michigan. Subsequently, Dr. Tietke pursued his residency in internal medicine at the Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan, and accepted a post doctorate fellowship in gastroenterology at the Henry Ford Hospital as well. He is the senior partner of Center for Colon & Digestive Disease and began his practice here in Huntsville in 1975.
Dr. Tietke is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine as well as the subspecialty Board of Gastroenterology. He is presently a Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine at the UAB School of Medicine Huntsville. He has been honored by a number of the graduating medical school classes as having the best clinical rotation. He is a member of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, the American Gastroenterological Association, the American College of Physicians, the American Medical Association and the Medical Association for the State of Alabama. He has been honored to become a Fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology as well.
Dr. Tietke is married and the father of two daughters. He is a member of the Rotary Club of Huntsville. He enjoys swimming and boating, and is an especially adept tennis player. Dr. Tietke's interests include photography and collecting American Indian lore. Classical music and operas are also among his favorite pursuits. |
