Sonya Robertson
MSN, AGACNP-BCPracticing with Center for Colon & Digestive Disease
Sonya was born and raised in Morgan County, Alabama.
Sonya graduated high school in 1991 from Hartselle High School. She then worked at Wolverine Tube in Decatur Alabama for 13 years before deciding to follow her mother and sister into the nursing field. She attended Calhoun Community College and earned an A.A.S. in Nursing. She spent the next 13 years working as a registered nurse in the critical care units at Crestwood Medical Center.
During her time at Crestwood, she attended the University of Alabama in Huntsville and received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Soon after, she returned to the University of Alabama in Huntsville to complete a Master of Science in Nursing. She is board certified as an Adult-Gerontological Acute Care Nurse Practitioner.
Sonya joined the Center for Colon and Digestive Disease in 2018. She is married with no children. She enjoys reading, travel, and spending time with family and friends.
Hannah Hawkins
MSN, FNP-CPracticing with Dr. Charles J. Billings
An experienced, board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner, Hannah has been an integral part of Dr. Billings' gastroenterology practice since 2019. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Auburn University and her Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Alabama in Huntsville.
Her clinical background includes work in the CVICU at Children's of Alabama and the Neonatal ICU at Huntsville Hospital, where she developed strong precision and compassionate care. Certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, she focuses on building lasting patient relationships and addressing root causes of gastrointestinal issues to improve daily quality of life. She has been working with Dr. Charles J. Billings since January 2019.
Outside the clinic, she is a devoted wife and mother of 3 who draws strength from her faith. In her free time, she enjoys time at the lake with her family and two dogs.
Alyssa Fikes
MSN, FNP-CPracticing with Dr. John-Paul Voelkel
Alyssa Fikes, MSN, FNP-C, is a board-certified nurse practitioner. She previously worked as an acute care registered nurse, in both ICU and ER settings, while continuing her education at the University of Alabama-Huntsville. She focuses on preventive care, irritable bowel syndrome, chronic liver disease, inflammatory bowel disease, and promoting overall wellness.
Alyssa is committed to building strong relationships with patients through education, trust, and personalized treatment plans. She strives to help each patient feel heard, supported, and empowered in achieving their healthcare goals. She has been working with Dr. John-Paul Voelkel since January 2021.
Outside of work, Alyssa enjoys spending time with family and her dog, being outdoors, and going to sporting events and concerts.
Stephanie Tate
MSN, AGACNP-BCPracticing with Dr. Meredith Roath
Stephanie Tate obtained her associates nursing degree from Calhoun Community College in 2006. After working as a nurse for 12 years, she decided to further her education and achieved her undergraduate nursing degree from the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, and she completed her graduate nursing studies through the University of Alabama in Huntsville with a focus on Adult-Gerontology Acute Care.
She has worked with Dr. Meredith Roath at CCDD since March of 2022. Stephanie is a native of Madison County.
She enjoys reading and spending time with her daughters and husband.
Kay-Ann McLean
MSN, AGACNP-BCPracticing with Dr. Charles J. Billings
After graduating from Oakwood University in 2000, Kay-Ann returned home to Miami, FL, and worked 3 years as a staff RN at South Miami Hospital. She was a Travel Nurse between 2003–2004. She was hired as a Critical Care Float Pool Nurse at Crestwood Hospital from 2004–2010. She then transferred to Special Procedures and worked 5 years as an endoscopy nurse.
After leaving Special Procedures, she worked as a Nursing Supervisor for 4 years while in graduate school. She obtained her Master of Science in Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner from Maryville University in St. Louis, MO in 2018.
Since graduating, she worked nearly 4 years as a Hospitalist Nurse Practitioner at Crestwood Hospital before transitioning to Outpatient Gastroenterology. She has worked with Dr. Billings since January of 2023.
She is dedicated to quality patient care and evidence-based practice. On her off time, she enjoys reading and spending time with her family.
Abigail Tuñón
AGACNP-BCPracticing with Dr. Dino Ferrante
Abigail Tuñón was born and reared in Huntsville, AL. She earned an athletic scholarship to play NCAA Division II Softball at University of Alabama-Huntsville. She graduated in 2013 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and became a Registered Nurse. She worked in the Medical ICU, where she developed a passion for advancing her career in healthcare.
In 2016, she earned her Master of Science in Nursing at the University of Alabama-Huntsville. She was inducted to the Sigma Theta Tau International Honors Society of Nurses, the National Society of Leadership and Success, and became a Board-Certified Adult-Gerontology-Acute Care Nurse Practitioner.
Abigail has experience within multiple subspecialties such as cardiothoracic surgery, pulmonary-critical care, Emergency medicine and as a Hospitalist. She joined CCDD in September of 2023. She currently practices alongside Dr. Dino Ferrante.
Abigail enjoys sports, reading, and spending time with her husband and sons.
Mackenzi Montoya
MSN, AGACNP-BCPracticing with Dr. Khurshid Yousuf
Mackenzi is originally from Sacramento and has proudly called Huntsville home since 2023. She is married and a devoted mother to three wonderful stepdaughters and a son, born September 2025.
She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from California State University, Sacramento before later completing her Master of Science in Nursing at The University of Alabama in Huntsville as an Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner. She is passionate about patient care and dedicated to making a meaningful impact in healthcare and works with Dr. Khurshid Yousuf.
Outside of her professional career, Mackenzi enjoys swimming, water polo, hiking, karaoke nights, watching murder mystery documentaries and attending concerts. She also enjoys caring for her miniature dachshund, and embraces an active lifestyle with her family.
